At the age of 12, Blah De' became increasingly interested in music production. Writing, recording, mixing, wiring equipment, and so on kept him on an upward spiral. By age 14, he got a set of monitors and a cheap keyboard and tried to make beats, but little did he know, there was no sequencer. In 1995, at the age of 15, Blah De' met Cazerai Pu, better known as Chaz who took him under his wing and showed him how to work professional studio equipment. While learning to engineer, Blah De' would secretly work on Memphis artists' albums when their sessions were over to perfect his craft. He recorded his first song: "Silence Can Tell a Story" at ARP Studios in South Memphis which later became SMI Entertainment. At 16, Blah De' started networking with other studio owners. This is where he recorded his second song: "Neva Gon Die" at KingPin Skinny Pimp's studio (Gimi Sum Dungeon) located in Frayser where he was born and raised. In 1999, Blah De' unknowingly sold his masters and publishing for beats that he created for thirty thousand dollars. "If I would have known what I know now, that deal would've never happened!" "I didn't want a record deal anymore!" A couple of quotes from a YouTube video of Blah De' discussing the complexities of the music business with Rap Coalition, Wendy Day. Throughout the trials of life, homelessness, and coming up in the streets of Memphis, Blah De' was always determined to be an Indie Artist while owning his masters and publishing.
